Fernando Oliha Takes Title of Mr.GSU 2009
Nerds are making a comeback and in a big way. Just ask Fernando Oliha who took the title of Mr. GSU 2009. This year’s theme, “I love nerds”, kept the crowd laughing as the six contestants strutted their best nerdy wear and talents.
At the end of the evening after the scores were calculated Fernando Oliha was named Mr. GSU 2009 with Ramoris Parham as first runner up and the People’s Choice, and Paul Tenzel as second runner up.

The six sported looks that included suspenders, taped glasses, high-waisted pants, and pocked holders.
The participants even stayed in nerdy character for the questioning session. When Junior Fernando Oliha was asked what he would do to unify the student body of GSU he said, “I would get all to join the math team and go to the library and read together. I would also hand out candy on Wednesdays.”
Junior Robert Roberts was asked what his favorite date location was. “The benches outside the Math and Science Building,” he said, “also dinner and a movie, McDonalds and dollar rentals.”
For talent sophomore Gregory Griffin reenacted the popular YouTube video, “The Evolution of Dance”. While all talent was crowd pleasing, Griffin’s performance seemed to electrify the crowd. Another popular performance was by junior Paul Tenzel as he solved a rubix cube in record time.
