First Amendment Free Food Festival

Free food and a free lesson will be given Thursday, April 24 in Student Media Plaza across from the Biology Building at Georgia Southern University. The Office of Student Media will be hosting the First Amendment Free Food Festival from 11a.m. to 1p.m. with catered food from over twenty local eateries. The event will not only include food, but will be a lesson on First Amendment Rights.

"The point of this event is to educate not only media students, but all Georgia Southern Students about the First Amendment," said Matt Mauney, director of the event. "The catch of the event is that for students to come and eat in this one area, they will have to give up their First Amendment rights."

The event will have hired patrons walking around and giving the students a hard time without their First Amendment rights. "I think what we have here is a really good method of learning for young people," Mauney said, "It will help them appreciate what this amendment does for Americans."

The event will last two hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Media Courtyard and some of the restaurants in attendence will be Moe's Southwest Grill, Buffalo's, Domino's, Good Birds and many others.
